Wells Fargo & Company has appointed Vidya Lakshmi as head of Human Resources for India & Philippines (I&P).
Lakshmi joined Wells Fargo earlier this month and will report to Managing Director and Executive Vice President for India & Philippines Arindam Banerrji and serve on the company’s Operating Committee for I&P.
In this new role, Lakshmi leads all HR services across the two regions and oversees the implementation of country-specific labor practices and effective risk controls. She is responsible for defining and driving the people strategy and priorities for the approximately 37,000 employees in I&P in partnership with the local and global leadership.

Most recently, Lakshmi was associated with Goldman Sachs, where she spent over 15 years holding positions including Head of Human Capital Management, Bengaluru, Head of HR Operations, Bengaluru, and Chief of Staff to the CEO in Bengaluru. She began her career in Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division where she worked with the Industrials Group in New York and Bengaluru covering a diverse set of clients. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Vidya worked in Price Waterhouse, Chennai.
Lakshmi has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Madras and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
